I have another crafty family member{s} to brag about today.
My pretty cool, awesome and crafty sis/brother-in-law
… Monica and Matt.
They made the coolest little book shelf for Miss E and it’s FREE!
I’m giving you this inspiration for a weekend project.
It’s Fridaaayyy!
Here’s MM DIY Pallet Book Shelf with a little Dr. Seuss:
{before Dr. Seuss}
As a new house was being built next door, new piles of wood pallets were being left to tease me. They were literally staring at me. Calling my name. It took everything not to go take a few here and there every night the workers left. Until one day my hubby (rule follower) said “babe, I get those for free from work.” WHAT?!! Do you realize how many pallet projects I’ve found on Pinterest and you’re just now telling me this?
I can’t take much credit,
(except for the freehand Dr. Seuss quote)
because my hubby did all the work.
There are only four steps to create this pallet bookshelf and about 20-30 minutes out of your day.
First step was to cut the pallets. No measurements needed. He made his first and only cut two rows up from the bottom of the pallet.
Then to make the books visible he removed the top board on the front side of the shelf (FYI this is the hardest part of the project. For some reason pallets are a beast to take apart).
Using the board that he just removed, he then used it to form the bottom of the shelf while using the original nails.
The fourth step was to sand the rough edges to keep our little one from getting splinters.
And now with a simple hand painted Dr. Seuss saying…
{ This is Miss E. The cutest , smartest little 1 year old. }
We loved the rustic look of the pallets so we decided not to paint them. This project was so easy and fun to create! Anyone could make these. Seriously. Anyone!
